What does it feel like to be
hypnotised?
It is extremely relaxing and
calming due to the deep mental and physical relaxation, which
hypnosis achieves. People sometimes comment on how heavy or
light their bodies feel during hypnosis and how they feel more
detached or their mind and senses feel sharper. Sensations of
floating or time distortion are quite common. After an hour of
hypnosis people often feel only 10 minutes has passed. During
hypnosis people are in control at all times and the worse thing that
can happen is that people feel so comfortable, relaxed and happy
that they simply do not want to come out of hypnosis at the end of
the session!

collected - more logical in my approach to work and
life, so much more efficient."
"Its so relaxing I
wish I could have hypnotherapy every day, that was
lovely thanks!"
What is hypnosis and how does
hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool
that is included within the category of ‘mind-body’ medicine, which
is based on a healing philosophy that recognises the profound
connection between the mind and the body.

Should a
therapist or coach be trained in Psychology?
A background in
Psychology is highly beneficial for dealing with personal
problems that are psychological in nature. I am a trained
Occupational Psychologist, Hypnotherapist, Life, NLP (Neuro
Linguistic Programming) and Performance coach.
My strong and
varied skill-set enables
me to take a professional and holistic approach to helping you.
Also it means I will not approach hypnotherapy in a mechanical way,
even though it relies on
certain techniques to produce results, including a hypnotised state.
Instead I will always tailor my approach to you as an individual.
At the end of each session you will have the chance to
talk about what you have experienced and integrate it into your
everyday consciousness. Also if you need to, you can call to
discuss any issues between sessions.
How can I be
certain that I would like to work through my issues with you?
I offer a
free
initial consultation, after which you are under no obligation to
have a session or contact me again. This means that we can discuss your issues
and you can go away and reflect on whether you would like to work
with me.
It is extremely important that you feel comfortable
with me in order to get the most out of any session and emerge into hypnosis and explore any
issues. I will also consider whether I am the best person to
work with you and how the psychological techniques I use will help
you get the results you want.
If I don't believe that I can help you I will
ensure you do not waste your time and where possible refer you on to
someone with more relevant experience.

"I always felt like Claire
listened to my answers or my feedback and thought carefully how to
adapt techniques to suit me throughout our sessions."
"I am very happy to
recommend Claire. She was professional,
tailored her approach for me and created an
environment where I was both comfortable discussing
the background to my problem, and where I trusted
her fully (which is important when you’re allowing
someone to put you in a hypnotised state!)."
Why would
you refer me to someone else?
As a
professional I am keen to reinforce the professional boundaries
between the psychological
techniques I offer (including cognitive behavioural coaching, hypnotherapy
and NLP) and traditional therapies (such as
counselling). I do not have appropriate professional
qualifications to deal with certain issues that may be part of the
problem, e.g. Bipolar, Endogenous or Psychotic Depression.
Therefore, where appropriate I will refer a client
for counselling, or other professional help, at any time during the hypnotherapy/ coaching
relationship. For example, clients who are unable to overcome
difficulties, or change their behaviour during cognitive behavioural
coaching, hypnotherapy and NLP,
may have deeper underlying issues; this may be
due to a personal or family crisis for which they need counselling.
What can I
expect during my
free initial consultation?
I will spend
time assessing your issues and any relevant medical
history. This will help me get a full understanding of the areas that you would
like to work on and the most effective psychological techniques to
address them. All information is completely confidential
and will be used to define a tailored approach to suit you.

"I
was happy with Claire’s initial consultation, as I felt she asked
enough questions to understand the nature of my fear of driving
tests. Also, before beginning any hypnosis she explained what
would happen and if I was happy to continue."
What payment
methods do you accept?
Cash or cheque
only.
Cheques should be made payable to Miss C Paul.
What happens
if I am late, miss an appointment, need to reschedule/ cancel an
appointment?
The
hypnotherapy/ coaching session will end at the agreed time, even if
you are late, as session timings are fixed. If you need to
re-schedule or cancel any appointment it is crucial that you give as
much notice as possible by calling or texting me on my mobile (48 hours at a minimum), otherwise you will
be charged the full cost of a session and this will not be
re-scheduled unless further payment is received.
How many
sessions will I require?
Most specific
issues can be dealt with using
Hypnotherapy and NLP with Cognitive Behavioural Coaching over 2-5 sessions.
This can be online, over
the phone or face to face in Bristol. For more deep
rooted or complex problems which may require
hypnoanalysis, rather than standard
hypnosis, six to
twelve sessions may be required.
