How does Cognitive Behavioural Coaching with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) differ from coaching and hypnotherapy?

 

Cognitive Behavioural Coaching with NLP can be used as an alternative to hypnotherapy as it also produces rapid benefits.  People who do not want to be hypnotised but are looking for a similar brief therapy, which can be experienced in a fully awake state, may favour this over hypnotherapy.  It is outcome focused and empowers clients to take a step back and gain a new perspective of past experiences and tap into and build on their internal resources.  In order to create the person you want to be it can be hugely beneficial to revisit past and present experiences and the way you think about the future.  For more information on how Harmony4Life uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in conjunction with hypnotherapy please click here.

 

I will work with you to define your goals, increase your awareness of your internal resources/skills and pin down how you can use and build on these to achieve your goals.  I will increase your self awareness through drawing attention to what you say, how you use verbal and non-verbal language to say this and your behaviour.  This may lead to identifying limiting beliefs that affect your attitude, outlook and behaviour.  Where appropriate I will challenge these and help you to replace them with more positive beliefs, which will open your mind to more choices and new behaviours.  This will help you to work towards your goals and empower you to take control of your life.

 

Cognitive Behavioural Coaching with NLP can effectively address specific issues in three to six sessions.  Six or more sessions may be required for more deep rooted issues.  However, coaching combined with hypnotherapy may be more appropriate for deeper issues, see below.

 

   
       
       
       
       
       
       
   

When do you use Cognitive Behavioural Coaching with NLP?

I usually use this most commonly for the following issues…

  • negative thinking

  • self limiting beliefs

  • self limiting/destructive behaviours

  • mismatch between lifestyle and personal values

  • low self confidence and self esteem

  • limited goal achievement

  • lack of motivation

  • performance anxiety

  • stress

  • fear of public speaking

When would coaching combined with hypnotherapy be more appropriate

than Cognitive Behavioural Coaching with NLP?

 

During your free initial consultation I will explore client’s individual issues and discuss which would be more appropriate.  However, for more deep rooted issues, Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, hypnotherapy and NLP are usually more powerful than Cognitive Behavioural Coaching with NLP alone.  Coaching can help you redefine what success looks like for you.  Depending on your definition of success, goals can be set to increase commitment and motivation for change and barriers to success can be identified. 

 

For hypnotherapy to be as successful as possible it is crucial to take into account all of these things as well as other information revealed through coaching, so that hypnotherapy can be tailored accordingly.  Also coaching can be used to reinforce the impact of hypnotherapy through forming a short and long-term plan of action to maintain and build on positive changes made through hypnotherapy.  Follow up coaching sessions ensure that you keep momentum and follow your plan of action enabling you to reach your goals whatever they may be.  Also see suggestion therapy and coaching below.
