Overview
of the programme
The following is an overview of the
Harmony4Life Rapid Relaxation Programme. For maximum
benefit I would recommend the whole 6 session programme
is completed over approximately 6 weeks.
Research shows that
after 6 months this programme can significantly improve
alertness and reduce anxiety (Thomas et al, 2006*).
Following practice, relaxation and self hypnosis
can be carried out rapidly, in a variety of different
situations. For example, you can use these techniques in
situations where you can’t leave but need to take time
out. With regular practise the techniques will become
easier to acquire and will become an invaluable tool for
life.
Most of us unconsciously tense our
muscles when feeling stressed and in response to other
emotions such as anger, frustration and fear. This
wastes a lot of energy and leads not only to stiffness
and perhaps pain but also to tiredness and reduced
functional ability.
Similarly, muscles that are tense
over a long time shorten and lay down supporting fibres
to maintain tension. Thus, they cannot function as they
would if they were loose, elastic and free. By learning
how to release locked muscles and tension, using rapid
relaxation and self hypnosis, movement becomes easier
and less painful and energy is more effectively used. |
