Stop smoking
hypnotherapy and coaching
One of the reasons this is linked to the low self esteem and
self confidence section is because smoking adverts have
reinforced a subconscious link between smoking and
self-confidence. Also Channel 4 (January, 2006)
stated that ‘people
who are shy or depressed or anxious or traumatised may
slip into repeatedly taking a drug and risk addiction.
However, the catch with this theory is that research also
shows that some people who use drugs a lot develop a
range of psychological problems which they didn't have
before. In other words, it's often hard to know whether
the psychological problems led to the drug dependence or
vice versa’. As cigarettes are a drug I felt that
this was worth a mention!
A very important factor in successfully giving up
smoking, whatever method you use, is that you are 100%
committed to becoming a non-smoker and have a strong
intent to stop smoking. So think very carefully now
about this and answer this question honestly…
Am I 100% committed
to becoming a non-smoker?’
Whether the answer is a definite ‘yes’ or you still have
doubts please
contact me
and we can discuss this further. Just one coaching session
could result in you feeling 100% motivated to give up, so please do
not hesitate to contact me for a free initial, no obligation,
consultation to discuss help with stopping smoking, any concerns and
to ask any questions.
If you choose to book a session following the initial
consultation you may be asked to keep a smoking log of each
time you light up, why you are doing it, what your mood is
and what you get out of it, on both a working and
non-working day. This can be very helpful in
establishing your personal triggers and through this
hypnotherapy can be tailored to your individual needs.
The more I can personalise the hypnotherapy treatment the
more beneficial it will be.
With coaching and hypnotherapy I aim to give you a different
perspective so that if you view it as a chore you will leave
seeing it as a positive challenge instead. I will do
this by working with you to define what the goal of becoming
a non-smoker means to you, including brainstorming ways of
getting the same benefits (perceived or real) that smoking
gives you, e.g. a way to release stress.
I will teach
you new ways of relaxing and reduce any anxiety, fears
and/or doubts you have. I will also tap into your
belief system and change any incorrect beliefs. For
example, your subconscious may hold the belief that smoking
enhances relaxation, whereas in actual fact nicotine is a
stimulant so it does quite the opposite of relaxing you.
I will also help you break any associations such as
socialising and smoking or lighting a cigarette after a
meal, etc.
