Harmony4Life Listening

The 'Harmony4Life Listening' service has been created partly due to my own life experience.  At different times in my life I have felt I needed talk to someone who was not a friend or family member but someone who was unrelated to my life and truly objective.  Most people have or will at some time probably experience this in their lives.  This highlights the need for an affordable and completely confidential listening service.

Reinforcing this is the fact that simply talking has been proven to be important for health and well-being.  Whether you simply want to talk to someone or are upset, confused/ anxious about something 'Harmony4Life Listening' is here for you.

The benefits include being able to off-load problems and talk freely during any session; for many people 'Harmony4Life Listening' has been the catalyst for many things:

  • finding a way to move on in life

  • gaining new and invaluable self insights and understanding

  • triggering the much needed therapeutic process of crying

  • ...and much more

Do YOU need to talk..?

. . . don't bottle it up, whatever it is, as it will probably catch up with you.  Do any of the following apply to you?

1. Do you just put on a brave face when really you need someone to turn to?

Many of us do this; we smile at people when they ask us how we are and say "Fine", "Great" or "I’m O.K".

2. Do you have a secret you which is hidden from the world?

A secret .... that focuses on things that worry you or make you unhappy... relationships ... family... loss of a job, a friend or a family member through bereavement...  financial worries...  stress related to overwork, your job role or studying…body image issues...  things you don't understand about yourself.

3. Do you want someone to listen who will not judge you?

4. Would it help to share a worry?

A problem shared is a problem halved.

5. Are there days when you don’t see or talk to anyone?

6. Do you feel you don't need in-depth counselling, just a flexible listening service you can use as much or as little as and when this suits you?

7. Do you need someone to listen to you pour out negative emotions without feeling bad about not listening to them?

8. Do you want to just say it as it is knowing you will not be judged?

9. Do you find it difficult to open up to people you know?

10. Can you relate to any of the following? (these are quotes from people who have benefited from Harmony4Life Listening)…

"...they always think I’m happy and funny and they won’t take me seriously…"

"I can’t trust people I know or they will use my weaknesses against me…nobody will understand anyway"

"…I don’t have any right to feel the way I do and I’m not going to impose my misery on anyone else.  Its the least I can do."

'Harmony4Life Listening' provides:

  • Someone who will be there for you at a time to suit you (you just need to call a UK landline number at a pre-arranged time)

  • Confidential non-judgemental listening so you can talk openly about things you can't tell other people, however big or small

  • Someone who is professional and trained to listen and understand feelings that you may have kept to yourself for a long time

  • Continuity through the same listener should you choose to use Harmony4Life more than once

  • Someone who will help you focus and think about what's going on in your life

  • A self development expert who can suggest tools which may help you if you are interested in moving beyond simply talking in an unstructured way

  • Someone who won't jump in with opinionated advice

  • Complete anonymity: if you wish you can use a pseudo name, all Harmony4Life needs is a name to refer to you by

  • All the benefits of telephone based sessions at no additional cost to you, click here for more information

The benefits of talking:

  • Sorting through your feelings: talking about your feelings can help you sort through your feelings, or make a situation clearer.

  • Putting things in perspective: if you have been keeping things to yourself your fears or concerns about a situation may be disproportionately overwhelming to the situation.  Simply talking this through can help you see the situation in a new or different perspective and be comforting.

  • Releasing tension: talking through your concerns can release a lot of pent-up tension and give you new insights into what is going on

  • Providing clarity: you may think you have unanswered questions and you may find it difficult to make up your mind about some issues and sometimes you only realise the answer when you ask someone else the question.  In other words, talking about something can often help you to know how you feel about it.

  • Feeling normal: if the person you are talking to hears your fears or concerns and then simply stays with you, it can help you to feel that your feelings are completely normal, which is often the reassurance you need to work through something and move forward.

  • Preventing a mole hill being made into a mountain: talking about a fear or a worry often stops it from growing in our minds.  Very often when we are thinking about something all the time, the worry just gets bigger and bigger.  Once the fear is out in the open and is being discussed, this process often stops.

  • Ensuring you don’t feel alone: talking about something important or personal helps you feel understood and supported and can therefore empower you to understand and support yourself better.

  • Mental-spring-cleaning: it can be a great way to simply empty your mind and release unwanted feelings or thoughts, especially when you are in a very stressful, emotional, pressured or panicky period.

  • Increasing self awareness: developing awareness of what’s going on in your head and what you are saying to yourself, which may not be helping you can be hugely helpful, especially as this can sometimes prevent otherwise uncontrollable reactions to situations and emotional explosions.

Simply talking can be a much needed catalyst for releasing emotion.  Sometimes this may lead to tears, however I believe this is often much more needed than people realise.  “The process of crying can be extremely therapeutic and can rid our bodies of impurities, some of which may have built up due to stress”.  It is said that ‘every tear is a tear of recovery’.  Sometimes you need to shed your cares by shedding tears:

"The sorrow which has no vent in tears may make other organs weep."   Henry Maudsley

"Time engraves our faces with all the tears we have not shed."   Natalie Clifford Barney

"The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears."   John Vance Cheney
